Synergy Transitional Housing: Second Chances, Not Second Sentences
Every year, thousands of individuals complete their prison sentences—yet walk out to the harsh reality of limited access to housing, employment, and health care.
The result? Higher risks of reoffending and returning to custody.
Research is clear:
Housing instability and joblessness after release dramatically increase recidivism.
Programs offering stable housing, counseling, and coordinated support significantly reduce new offenses and lower correctional costs.
Ending the “Second Sentence”
Collateral consequences—such as automatic rejections for housing, jobs, and services—often operate as an unofficial second sentence.
Evidence shows:
People with access to work, education, counseling, and housing after incarceration are far less likely to return to prison.
With the right support, they become contributors, caregivers, and community leaders.
Our Mission and Approach
Synergy Transitional Housing is committed to breaking the cycle of recidivism by:
Treating returning citizens as neighbors and future coworkers, not as permanent offenders.
Building a culture centered on dignity, accountability, and opportunity.
Expecting participants to take responsibility—while ensuring systemic barriers don’t set them up to fail.
Mission:
To provide support, increase awareness, and create real opportunities that connect justice-involved individuals with housing, behavioral health services, and employment—empowering them to successfully reintegrate and thrive in their communities.
Assistance:
Direct support through housing vouchers, treatment, case management, and job placement so people can stabilize quickly after release.
Awareness:
Education for landlords, employers, and community partners about the benefits of second chance hiring and reentry housing, including safer neighborhoods and a stronger local workforce.
Incentive:
Building win–win partnerships where housing providers and businesses receive reliable support and more prepared tenants and employees, while the community benefits from reduced recidivism and lower public costs.
Why Synergy Exists
We believe that once a person has fulfilled their legal obligations, they deserve a genuine opportunity to rebuild—not be punished again by systemic barriers.
